During the latest PlayStation Blogcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden, confirmed that a new trailer of the MediEvil Remake for the PlayStation 4 will be released on October 31st, 2018.
In the PlayStation Blogcast, Layden also revealed some details about this new MediEvil game:
“I think there have been some words that might sound alike but mean different things—like remake and remaster,” Layden said. “This is a remake. We’ve taken the original game design and we’ve taken a lot of the key art, and some of the other attributes of the game design and ethos, if you will, and we’re working with a developer called Other Ocean Interactive, and they are remaking MediEvil and that design—the original MediEvil from PS1. The original one—the one that I worked on. (So this is based on the PS1 version of the game?) Exactly.”
Layden continued, “We’re working with some of the talent that were originally associated with the title 20 years ago, so we’re making sure that we’re keeping it real, keeping it to the original intent of the creators. It’s sweet, I tell you. On Halloween, please get to a streaming video point near you and check it out.”
MediEvil’s Story
An evil sorcerer named Zarok plotted to take over the kingdom of Gallowmere with his undead army. It is told in legend that the champion, Sir Daniel Fortesque, led the King of Gallowmere’s army to victory and managed to kill Zarok before he succumbed to his mortal wounds. In reality however, Dan was in fact struck down by the first arrow fired in the battle, with the king choosing to cover it up and declare Dan a hero. Zarok, meanwhile, went into hiding. 100 years later, Zarok reappears, casting a spell over Gallowmere to awaken his undead army and steal the souls of the living. However, in the process, he unwittingly revives the corpse of Dan, who has over time become a skeletal corpse, missing his jaw and the eye he lost in the battle of Gallowmere. Having been unable to ascend to the fabled Hall of Heroes, Dan uses this opportunity to defeat Zarok, save Gallowmere and earn his place as a true hero.
