New Overwatch castle map Eichenwalde revealed

New Overwatch castle map Eichenwalde revealed

Overwatch, Blizzard’s answer to the hero-based team shooter, is getting a new map. Set in Germany, Eichenwalde is a massive battleground set around and within a stunningly crafted castle that looks ripe with a lot of points and areas of engagement. The site of one of the most well-known battles during the Omnic Crisis, the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich Von Alder made his last stand within these stone walls. While he and his men were eventually slain, the Germans managed to push the Omnic offensive back, and reclaim the castle’s defenses.

Here’s the map’s official description:

The site of one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis, it was here that the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich von Alder, and a handful of his best soldiers made a last stand against an advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the omnic offensive and win the fight.

Players at Gamescom will be able to get some time in the Germanic setting before the map goes live for all players this September.

Check out the Trailer:

“There was no mention of the mysterious character Sombra, who we expect to be the next new Overwatch hero, although I doubt we’ll see another playable face so soon after Ana’s arrival. Then again, the new video hasn’t been dissected by the community yet. We looked at the flashes in the video’s transitions frame-by-frame, as this is where secret Sombra messages have been found before, but turned up nothing.”
