Persona fans are eagerly awaiting the newest arrival within the Persona 5 world, Persona 5 Royal, upon its announcement last month, and have luckily been given a few new updates on the upcoming expansion. It’s been confirmed that Persona 4 Golden project director Daiki Itoh and chief designer of P4G Kazuhisa Wada are returning to direct and produce Royal, respectively.
Famitsu has revealed a few more interesting details regarding the upcoming Royal expansion, including why the term “Royal” was chosen, how large of an expansion we can expect and new confidants expected to make their debut.
Director Daiki Itoh and producer Kazuhisa Wada expressed the reasoning for using the term Royal is their “enthusiasm to make a gorgeous title.” It’s also been revealed that the introduction of the third semester will “go beyond the expectations of those who have experienced the volume of Persona 4 Golden.”
The new Phantom Thief, Kasumi, will be worked into the overall story after the team tweaks various elements to ensure she fits in appropriately, as well as adding her as an additional Confidant. New character Maruki will also be a new Confidant addition who portrays an “extremely nice adult character.” There’s also vague confirmation that there will be other Confidant characters added to the story, adding a great deal of replayability to a game that already exceeded the 100-hour mark.
There’s also confirmation that 20 new music track swill be added to the game. Returning Persona 5 players will also receive an additional bonus upon starting up Royal, though it hasn’t been revealed what the bonus will be.
Persona 5 Royal is scheduled to release in Japan on October 31, 2019 with a western release slated for 2020.
In other Persona 5 news, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers has also been revealed as a unique spin-off set to release for the PS4 and Switch.
