Capcom and Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono expressed his disappointment for lack of exciting announcements for Street Fighter V during this year’s Evo 2019 Tournament. While he explained there were initial plans for something exciting for the three-year old title, those plans eventually fell through.
However, Ono did tease that there are plans for a new Street Fighter V announcement incoming for later this year, in the months of November/December. Check out Ono’s full statement regarding Street Fighter V below:
“Dear EVO, Joey, and Street Fighter fans around the world. We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to a big announcement this year. We wanted to put together something else for you guys, but it didn’t quite work out. Trust me, we feel your disappointment.
There is nothing in Blanka’s pocket today. But please look forward to a new Street Fighter V announcement in November and December. We will make sure Blanka has a gift in his pocket at this year’s Capcom Cup at the Novo in Los Angeles. Looking forward to seeing you all there. You are all invited. Until then, please the new characters, the EVO finals, and the rest of the Capcom Pro Tour season. Thank you very much.”
So, while fans may have to wait a little while before the next big announcement for the current release in the Street Fighter series, it appears the game is far from over. It was also recently announced that three new roster additions – E. Honda, Lucia and Poison – were added on August 4, 2019.
Stay tuned for what Capcom is planning to keep Street Fighter V alive and well as it enters its fourth year.
