Developer Coldwood Interactive a new twenty minute video featuring pure unadulterated gameplay of their upcoming title known as Unravel. It has come a long way since its initial announcement at E3 of last year. There were quite a few big moments at that trade show that shook many gamers across the world in the forms of Shenmue 3 and Final Fantasy Remake’s announcements. However, the most heart-warming and emotionally moment had to be when Martin Sahlin from Coldwood took the stage. With earnest excitement and nervousness along with a quivering voice, he announced Unravel’s development and gave an honest presentation on Yarny’s adventure and game’s human core. Here is the gameplay video in its entirety:
Unravel is a title that uses physics and the mechanical framework of a 2D platformer to lead the player Yarny on a journey across the Scandinavian wilderness while leaving a trail of yarn along the way. The yarn represents the love that binds us together with those close to us. All of this takes place in game that, so far, looks to be visually impressive. There is an undeniable purity and serene quality to the game’s presentation.
There is a great deal to take away from the gameplay show in this new video. Yarny has a few neat abilities that allow him to traverse the environment. He can shoot yarn to certain points like a grappling hook like the classic Bionic Commando. He also has the ingenuity to craft a makeshift trampoline which allows him to ascend to higher platforms that he cannot reach with his normal jump. Guiding Yarny on his journey seems to be a very intuitive and enticing proposition.
Unravel is still set to release on February 9, 2016 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Includes several titles.
Which was showcased at E3 2003.
