Playtonic Games’ upcoming platformer sequel, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair received a brand new trailer today showing off different variations of levels in the game. The sequel will have players triggering alternates states in levels which add new mechanics and gameplay elements to the experience.
Check out the new trailer titled ‘Alternate Level States’ below:
The sequel to the Yooka-Laylee series will feature a combination of both 2.5D platforming sections and 3D overworld section of the game where you discover each different stage. The newest trailer gives viewers a look at how each of the 20 different levels can be transformed into an alternate state for added challenge and depth.
In the footage we see that some levels may be flooded and navigated through by swimming, others with drafty gusts of wind to guide players through the air, and another level taken completely over by frozen conditions. The alternate states seems to introduce a ton of new gameplay mechanics that should keep players engaged throughout the experience.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is set to release on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC sometime near the end of 2019.
