Next Battlefield Game Coming in Holidays 2021

During the recent investors call, EA confirmed that the upcoming Battlefield is scheduled to release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC In Holidays 2021.

“DICE is creating our next Battlefield game with never-before-seen scale” … “The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver a truly next-gen vision for the franchise. We have hands-on playtesting underway internally.” Moreover, EA confirmed that the next Battlefield game “is set to launch in holiday 2021,” and the studio says it will share “a lot more about the game in the spring.”

EA CEO Andrew Wilson also revealed more details about how the developing team is overcoming the adversities presented by an extraordinary year in the video games industry.

“We have rallied that entire studio [DICE] around the development of Battlefield specifically. We’ve given them an extra year of development … to ensure that they can, in fact, build a true next-gen vision around that game. DICE is one of the most talented studios on the planet, and we’ve been able to add leadership from our EA Sports business in David Rutter who understands both live services and the rigor of development. We’ve brought in talent from across the industry who have really bolstered our belief and our confidence in our ability to launch that game next year, so lots more to come in the next couple of months.”

EA is not resting on its laurels for the next-generation of gaming, the company recently announced a collaboration with Microsoft to bring EA Play to Xbox Game Pass, the service is added to Xbox on November 10 at no extra cost for the subscriber. The company also announced the development of six new FIFA games for mobile devices, the games are being developed by third-party studios. It’s expected that EA diversifies the soccer experience for different kinds of players and ages.

EA also confirmed during the meeting the plans to release “at least” six new games for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 by the end of the next fiscal year (April 2021 – March 2022).

While EA had already confirmed that the next Battlefield would release in 2021, fans now have a specific date, something that certainly is well received if the development team can handle the publisher’s expectations. Fans can also look forward to the next-gen Criterion racing game, Bioware’s Dragon Age 4, and more projects teased during this year’s EA Play Live.
