Next-Gen PSVR Headset Features 4k With Eye Tracking – Rumor

revealed the orb-like controllers for the next-gen PSVR for the PlayStation 5, today, insiders affirm that the next-gen device will feature 4K resolution along with eye-tracking.

According to UploadVR, Sony’s next-gen PSVR headset will support a resolution of 4000 x 2040 pixels, each eye will get 2000 x 2040. If the report is accurate, the new device will double the original PSVR resolution.

The new PSVR is also using a USB Type-C connection to connect to the console, the headset will also include a set of cameras to track the position of the new orb-like controllers.

Reports also claim that Sony is working on a new way to fill additional pixels, the device will support foveated rendering, a technique that uses an eye tracker integrated with the system to reduce the rendering workload by greatly reducing the image quality in the peripheral vision.

Official information reveals that the VR Controller is tracked by the new VR headset through a tracking ring across the bottom of the controller. The controller is revolutionary featuring finger touch detection without any pressing in the areas where you place your thumb, index, or middle fingers. This enables the player to make more natural gestures with their hands during gameplay.

Sony has not revealed any official details regarding the launch of the next-gen PSVR, we only got a reveal for the controller which seems revolutionary. Sony affirms that the controller was designed with was ergonomics in mind, the device will feel well-balanced and comfortable. The designers and engineers at Sony Interactive Entertainment “applied learnings from testing users with a range of hand sizes.” With the new controller, Sony is confident that they will change how VR games are played.
