Nintendo Direct Announced for February 17

Nintendo has just announced the premiere date of the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation. The new event will be focusing on upcoming games for Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021, and will also reveal new information about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Recent episodes of Nintendo Direct have been shorter, focused on individual games, or just a whole event focused on indie games, however, the newly announced event seems like a return to the older Direct presentations, focusing on a variety of first-party Nintendo games to be released soon.

As revealed during the official announcement, the presentation will be roughly 50 minutes long and will reveal new information about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The recent Fighters’ Pass Vol. 2 featured Minmin from ARMS and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.

Several theories of what could be revealed tomorrow claim that the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro will be finally unveiled. The hardware revision will reportedly use NVIDIA’s DLSS to scale the game up to 4K resolutions.

There are also theories of fans who want to see more of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a gameplay showcase of the New Pokemon Snap, and the rumored Nintendo Switch port of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Is important to mention that amid a catastrophic 2020 for the video games industry, Nintendo reported its best financial quarter since 2008, the Japanese tech giant managed to sell 79.87 million Nintendo Switch units since launch.

A recent financial report indicates that over 6.85 million Nintendo Switch consoles were sold just in Japan in 2020. The PS4 was the second-best selling-console with 543,000 units, the next-gen PlayStation 5 only managed to ship 255,000 units.
