Nintendo has recently released a cheaper alternative to those who wants to acquire a Switch, the Japanese giant saw a significant increase in revenue in the last three months the Switch Lite has been available. Now, according to reports, Nintendo is preparing for a new hardware that will appeal even more to new players.
DigiTimes reports that another Switch is already at development, scheduled to release at the end of the first-quarter 2020.
These reports only suggest a new hardware is releasing, so it’s imposible to know if Nintendo will make a small revision to the hardware, or if they’re planning to release a ‘Pro’ version of the Switch, a more powerful console capable to deliver 4k gaming, something that is dreamed around their user base.
As reported by wccftech, just recently a Wall Street Journal Reporter, Takashi Mochizuki pointed at a 2019 tweet where he mentions that, Nintendo was working on two different version for the Switch. A Lite version has released, the other is still undisclosed.
This gives some credibility to DigiTimes’ reports, a new Nintendo Switch might around the corner.
“I reported in Aug 2019: “Nintendo has ideas for further updates to the Switch lineup after those two models to make the platform’s lifecycle long” DigiTimes on Jan 6: “Nintendo is reportedly planning to release in mid-2020 a new model of Switch” Takashi Mochizuki, January 6 via Twitter.
The Switch proved to be a market success, as reported earlier, analyst Piers Hardding-Rolls talked about the next-gen system from Sony and Microsoft won’t be able to outsell the Switch, a release in mainline China will make things significantly harder for Sony and Microsoft. Piers Harding-Rolls doubts on the release of an improved Nintendo Switch since the Switch Lite has done fairly well, selling over 2 million units in a few weeks.
