In a recent episode of their podcast, prominent leaker NateTheHate claimed that Nintendo will reveal the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 16. They also claims that the reveal will not feature any games and will focus solely on hardware. These claims have seemingly aligned with sources from official outlets such as VGC and Nintendo Life. Additionally, the leaker claims that the console could launch sometime in May or June. VGC claims it heard the same and that a new Mario Kart will be a launch title.
“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now,” they said. “I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus. If this trailer, let’s say, is absent of any games, maybe don’t be too surprised about it,” they ended.
As reported by French publication Numerama, the Nintendo Switch 2 shape and design has been revealed through their presence at CES 2025. Additionally, the accessory maker named Genki claims to have the Switch 2 in their possession and had several models of the console and some accessories on display. The model looks significantly larger than the current Switch and much sleeker as well. Genki also notes that the accessories shown off will be launching sometime in April, which is when they expect Nintendo Switch 2 to launch. As previously spotted by VGC, a new Nintendo console patent which was filed back in July 2023, was published on December 31. The patent details new machine learning technology that, similar to DLSS technology or Sony’s PSSR technology, converts low resolution images to higher resolution images.
