The new Nioh gameplay footage, shared by PlayStation Access, showcases the boss battle against Ogress while playing the game on PlayStation 4 Pro. The game already looks great on the original PlayStation 4, but it seems like it will look even better on the recently released console.
Nioh will come with a few different modes on both the regular PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro consoles. With these modes, players will be able to prioritize resolution or frame rate, allowing them to customize the experience in ways not normally possible on consoles.
The video begins by showing some standard gameplay with regular enemies, with the area leading to the boss being dark and ominous. We also get to see some new enemies in action, along with some stat progression that has been streamlined since the first demo. The true wow moment comes at the end with the boss fight, however, with the battle with Ogress taking place in a gorgeous location. The boss itself is massive and seems to move quickly despite its size, being able to launch quick slashes that cover a lot of ground. The game has definitely been polished a lot following the demos, and the game looks incredible running on PlayStation 4 Pro.

“It’s completely possible that once the developers have time to optimize the game, everything will run significantly smoother. It’s even a possibility that the 720p/1080p switch will be removed in the final version, but we hope that it sticks around. Giving consumers more options is almost always a good thing, and some of us are more than willing to trade fidelity for better performance.
That leads us to the question of how this plays into the rumored PS4K. If the leaks are to be believed, support for this new platform will be required by Sony by sometime this fall, and that means a minimum of 1080p for all new titles. If this game launches into a post-PS4K world, the question of resolution and performance will become even more complicated. We might end up in a situation where the base version has the 720p/1080p split, and the PS4K version simply delivers a 1080p version with a target of 60fps. It’s all speculation for now, but it does make us wonder if we’ll end up seeing similar compromises from other developers going forward.”
