, best known as the writer and creative director on the first three games in the Uncharted games announced alongside Skydance New Media that they are working on a narrative-focused Marvel game that features an original storyline. Amy Hennig, Skydance New Media, Skydance Media, and Marvel shared this news via a press release posted today.
The press release was light on any actual details of the project, though it did make use of the word “Interactable” several times within it. We have no idea as of yet what character or characters this game will follow, what systems it will be available on, or when the game might finally be shown.
This will be the first project from Skydance New Media and Amy Hennig, who joined the company in 2019 to help create a AAA games studio within the already established Skydance Film and TV company. Hennig stated about partnering with Marvel:
I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery, and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.
This is not the only game Hennig is working on currently as she is also writing for the upcoming Square Enix title Forspoken. Before this, she was also working on a Star Wars story-driven project for EA, a game that was canceled before fruition much to the chagrin of gamers.
Marvel has also had a busy year for gaming. Just recently Eidos Montreal released their take on the Guardians of The Galaxy, and Insomniac Games has also announced the follow-up to their well-received Spider-Man game, as well as a Wolverine game set in the same universe. A tactical RPG, Marvel’s Midnight Suns is also in development from Firaxis, the team behind the XCOM games.
