Following Blizzard’s announcement of Overwatch 2 back in 2019 the studio has kept information of the development of the game in secret, fans are worried and there are recent rumors that the game had suffered from several development issues and has been delayed.
Overwatch 2 may be delayed as insiders have been recently affirming, yesterday Korea’s Genji has allegedly “not started recording” new dialogue for the game.
“Yeah I’m still working on Overwatch, but I haven’t heard anything about Overwatch 2,” the voice actor said in a January 26 interview according to translations from Reddit user ‘Evenstar6132.’
While this initial statement could have just been avoiding the topic, he soon followed up to confirm that he’s had “nothing” to do with Overwatch 2 up until now. “What’s going on Blizzard? I’m not fired am I?”
It’s speculated that Blizzard rebooted Overwatch’s development, as the studio’s career page has been updated this week, the studio is looking to hire 43 developers in different positions for the production of the game. Blizzard has not made an official statement about the current state of the game, but following a change in the leadership of the project, it’s fair to assume that the game has been delayed.
Blizzcon 2021 will go live on February 19, fans will be demanding to hear more about the promised game, however, that might not be the case as it’s stated by Metro, an Overwatch streamer with a high reputation for accurately leaking BlizzCon content Overwatch.
“I’ve heard things. I’ve heard that they’re really fuc… slow, and they’re delaying it. I heard they’re really slow at developing it. From what I’ve heard it doesn’t sound good at all. It sounds like it’s really far off.”
In recent news from Blizzard, the large developer announced a merging with Vicarious Visions for the development of Diablo II: Resurrected. Fans are getting anxious about the possibility of Blizzard not being able to manage their teams and IPs correctly, it’s possible that Overwatch 2 may still be years ahead of its launch.
