Ana is a battle scarred veteran who supports her teammates from a distance using a unique and highly specialized collection of weapons.
As a support character, Ana’s Biotic Rifle shoots darts that can heal allies or deal ongoing damage to enemies. The fact she can do this from a sniper role grants her a wider view of the battlefield than other support players with similar abilities such as Zenyatta.
Ana’s Biotic Grenade is perfect for a close-quarters clash, because it simultaneously heals teammates and injures foes caught in its small area of effect. (Affected allies will also receive a temporary increase to all incoming healing, whereas affected enemies can’t be healed for a few moments.) And if the battle starts to get out of hand, Ana’s side arm can fire a Sleep Dart, knocking her adversaries’ unconscious.
Her ultimate ability, Nano Boost, transforms teammates into super soldiers, granting faster movement, increased damage, and resistance to enemy attacks.
There’s no release date yet for Ana, but the fact that she’s already in testing means that she’s close.

Once Ana is available, support-oriented players can sneak into a spot with decent sight lines and heal their allies without getting themselves into too much trouble. (Blizzard’s rated her at the game’s highest “difficulty” level, so that may not be as easy as it sounds.) It isn’t yet clear when Ana will become playable, but Blizzard is saying she’s “coming soon.” Start drawing up those strategies!
