This latest entry in the Paper Mario saga sees Nintendo’s portly plumber restoring the troubled Prism Island, which has been stripped of its colours. Mario is now equipped with a Paint Hammer that splashes the world with paint. Players can also use scissors to slice out pieces of the environment, done by tracing lines on the GamePad. The game blends elements of platforming, turn-based combat and puzzle-solving.
According to a North American press release from Nintendo, Color Splash is currently expected to bring some flair to store shelves on 7th October for the Wii U.
Check out the E3 Trailer:
“Key details include the lack of formal ‘XP’ points, but evidently HP and paint gauges can be increased through other means. As expected you use a new companion – Huey the paint can – to bring colour to the world; we also saw some battles, in which ability and attack cards are selected and painted on the GamePad before the conventional timed button presses to execute moves. Toads play a big part in the story, and after a slow start in the demonstration we did see some flashes of creativity, including a fun-looking cameo by the dragon from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, along with some other neat moments.”
