Phoenix Point,
the kindred soul of the XCOM series of turn-based strategy games, has received an official release date of December 3, 2019.
Snapshot Games, the developer behind the project, sent an email to backers of the project officially stating the game’s release date, going so far as to announce the time at which the title would go live (10 AM Pacific Standard Time). The company revealed back in July of 2019 that the game would be released sometime in December, but no specific date had been given until today.
In addition, the developer announced that it would be “moving away from [their] Early Access editions of the game to the retail editions starting November 8, 2019 at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.”
The email also reveals the three retail editions of the game that will be made available, their respective prices, and what content they will include. The Base Edition (USD$39.99) will include a digital download of the game and a digital game manual.
The Deluxe Edition (USD$59.99) will include a digital download of the game, a digital game manual, desktop wallpaper, two digital in-game items (Alien “Living Gun” set and Alien Chitin Armor set), a digital art book, and a compendium.
Finally, the Ultra Edition (USD$79.99) will include all of the aforementioned items plus the Season Pass. The Season Pass itself includes the first five DLC for Phoenix Point, three of which have already been titled (Blood and Titanium, Legacy of the Ancients, and Festering Skies). The first DLC is expected to release in early 2020, with all five DLCs being released in intervals over the course of 2020.
Moreover, anyone who backed the project prior to March 12, 2019 will receive the game’s Season Pass at no additional charge.
Pre-orders for Phoenix Point will go live on November 8, 2019 on the Epic Games Store and on the official Phoenix Point website. Furthermore, ”anyone who pre-orders (or has pre-ordered already) on the Epic Games Store will get a digital copy of the official Phoenix Point soundtrack by John Broomhall, as well as AM3, the eclectic album by Mokushi, who also happens to be the audio director on Phoenix Point.”
The first faction trailer for the game was also released, giving viewers a glimpse at The Disciples of Anu.
Lastly, Snapshot Games announced that Phoenix Point would be coming to Xbox One in Q1 2020, with a PlayStation 4 edition to be released sometime later in 2020.
