[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Rockstar Games has announced via Twitter that the physical editions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, which were originally planned for release next week, have been delayed by 10 days, with the Nintendo Switch version coming in 2022. This re-released GTA titles which saw some improved visuals thanks to the Unreal Engine 4, but also a large number of bugs and gameplay issues that the original PS2 era versions did not have.

This announcement coincided with the game’s second big patch which was released yesterday and was stated to fix 100+ issues throughout the three games. Among the fixes in this patch was the addressing of rain animations which drew much ire from the fanbase, as well as addressing the spelling on signage which had become a meme since the game was released on November 11 digitally.

While not a long delay by any stretch of the imagination, the game could still benefit from it. Two patches have already been released in under a month and there are still a lot of fixes the game still needs. In all fairness, the game should have probably not seen release until next year anyway, but since it has the company needs to do some serious damage control when it comes to physical releases.

Unfortunately, the game has had more issues than simply gameplay glitches. After it was released on PC through the Rockstar Launcher, the said launcher was taken down due to the trilogy containing intentional code. During and even after the Launcher was brought back, players who had purchased the games were unable to play them.

The company is clearly working on the game in an attempt to fix it, though either or not they will be forgiven for the blunder of its launch remains to be seen. With No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 both recently being able to achieve more love after launching lackluster, there is a precedent to hope that the game will eventually become what was promised.

While I understand that the GTA titles are beloved by their fanbase, including myself as I grew up on them as well, I would like to remind people that it is NEVER… EVER… Acceptable to issue death threats to developers, regardless of how you feel about their product.
