spotted what might have been a misunderstanding between Sony and Gamestop. Gamestop released a list of the confirmed features and specifications for the Sony PlayStation 5. The listing appeared on a now unavailable PS5 registration page. The purpose of the registration was letting know players as soon as the console is available to pre-order.
Disclaimer – This information has not been verified, therefore this is not factual.
The registration page listed the following specs for the PlayStation 5:
- Full 8K TV support
- Bespoke 8-core AMD chipset
- 3D Audio
- Built-for-purpose SSD storage
- Backwards compatibility with PS4 games/PSVR hardware
- Ray tracing capabilities
This information confirms some of the features that Sony has already announced, backwards compatibility would be definitely be a great selling point, and most likely a must, after Xbox has already confirmed that Xbox Series X would allow players play throughout the four generations of Xbox games.
According to Gamestop the PS5 is capable of 8K, but it’s not confirmed how will the GPU of the Japanese console would compete with its American counterpart. Xbox has flexed his raw performance already, the console will be boasting 12 Teraflops of GPU performance and 120 FPS support, the Xbox machine is as ready as it’s sitting in Phil Spencer’s house being used as his main console. Sony has yet to reveal the final design of the next PlayStation. There is also the obstacle that presents Coronavirus and a rising cost of flash memory, real problems that are being assessing at Sony’s HQ.
The reveal of the Xbox Series X confirms the leaked information that was spotted on late 2019, on that Gifthub leak, PS5 information was also leaked, considering how accurate it was, it’s likely that specifications’ suggested for the PS5 might be accurate.
It’s worth mentioning that SegmentNext don’t report a screenshot of Gamestop’s PS5 registrations, but the outlet is a reliable source of information, so we’re gonna take their words on this one.
