PlayStation 5 will feature the strongest launch lineup in the history of PlayStation, this has been affirmed by Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Vice President and head of marketing Eric Lempel speaking with GamesIndustry in an interview.
The content that will be in the launch window and beyond is incredibly exciting. I would say that this is the best line-up that we’ve ever seen in the history of PlayStation, between our Worldwide Studios groups and our partners from all the different publishers around the world. We’ve revealed some of that content, and naturally there will be more to come, but the way that the developers can engage with this platform, and create these new experiences with known IP as well as unknown IP, is incredibly exciting.
While Lempel is hyping the launch of the PlayStation 5’s launch, the confirmed launch titles are not as exciting as he claims, at the moment of writing the only PS5 launch window games we know are coming from PlayStation Studios are, Demon’s Souls Remake, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Third-party developers will launch Bugsnax, Godfall, and Deathloop. Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and Resident Evil: Village are multiplatform titles.
Lempel also explain how important is the new TV advert for the PlayStation 5, he says it is almost entirely computer-generated, an actor was filmed in her home for her role in the commercial. Over 70 artists from a range of different visual effects disciplines were hired.
“The genesis of this is that we’re moving into a new generation and to us generations matter. It’s a chance to raise the expectations from players and gamers, and really introduce something new. So for this spot, in particular, we focused on three distinct areas: the haptic feedback, the adaptive dynamic triggers, and 3D audio. And we wanted to show what it would be like to be in the middle of all that.”
