Hideaki Nishino Senior Vice President, Platform Planning & Management explained the company’s vision for the design of the new interface, according to him, the playtime is “valuable and should be meaningful”. This affirms PlayStation’s need to make the interface comprehensive and integrated with hardware features of the console.
“The new UX introduces several new features designed to make your gaming experiences more fun, engaging, personalized, and social.” Says Nishino, while explaining the new Control Center, a new feature that will provide players access to almost everything with a single press of the PlayStation button on the DualSense without leaving the game.
The PlayStation 5 will use ‘Cards’ to present the information to the user, in the image above, PlayStation reveals the new feature called ‘Activities’ this new feature will present key elements of gameplay to the player, in this case, the objectives needed to complete the level of Sackboy a Big Adventure.

Activities are displayed via on-screen cards in the Control Center, which enables you to discover new gameplay opportunities, go back to things you missed, jump directly into levels or challenges you want to play, and much more. Some Activity cards can be put in picture-in-picture mode, so you can view them without having to leave the game.

Navigating the interface, switching between games, and hopping into online matches occurs quickly, as we rebuilt the entire software stack from the console to the network to bring you a truly next-generation experience. We believe the less time you spend waiting to interact with the system, the more time you will have to spend playing games.

The PlayStation 5 user interface was showcased on real hardware, which revealed the impressive performance of the console’s SSD, Sid Shuman also revealed how players will interact with parties with the redesigned party and sharing feature, players will be able to join directly to the party from the home screen of the console at ease with little waiting time.
PlayStation recently redesigned the trophy system of PlayStation, today Shuman also confirmed that more information will be revealed in the following weeks.
