The PlayStation 5 design has been finally unveiled, but the futuristic design does not please to all potential buyers, for that circumstances, Sony has designed the PlayStation 5 with customization in mind, according to the information that Matt MacLauring, Vice President of UX design at PlayStation.
In a LinkedIn thread, the executive answered the question of some users about the PlayStation interface and the design of the console, he states that the console will be available in different colors. Certainly, a relief for the potential buyers who weren’t pleased by the two-tone design and favors an all black console.
Most interestingly, MacLauring suggest that more than a simple colors swap will change the appearance of the next gen device, he states that the PlayStation 5 “is also customizable in ways previous gens weren’t.” If he is referring to the hardware of software remains to be confirmed by Sony.
Now, MacLauring statement has opened room for speculation, something that Sony might not want as it might lead to false expectations. Is now being debated whether if the white plates are in fact an integral part of the hardware, surely.
Is possible that Sony had designed the PlayStation 5 being somewhat customizable on its hardware, the next gen hardware requires for a very significant change in how the box looks. While there are not exact measures of the console, it’s USB ports and 3.5 inch drive suggest that the console is taller, thicker and heavier compared to the PlayStation 4.
The console might be 15- 16 inch tall, making it one of the tallest console ever made, the console also appears to be 3.5 inches wide.
The reveal of the PlayStation 5 is in accordance to an allegedly leak information weeks before The Future of Gaming event. The leak suggested a huge unappealing console, launching on November for $499, the information also included now confirmed leak Horizon: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart , Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales.
