Netflix has not been shy about attempting to enter the gaming market in some form. Recently the studio hired ex-EA and Facebook Game Executive Mike Verdu to head up their gaming division. While video games have yet to appear on the platform, not only do they look close at hand, but that PlayStation might be joining them.

As originally reported by VGC, dataminer Steve Moser appears to have uncovered multiple images and content for the PlayStation brand buried in Netflix app code. These images include DualSense controllers and a picture of Ghost of Tsushima. It is unclear at this time exactly what this means, but it may point to a partnership between the two companies.
Moser states in his tweet that a gaming section for the streaming giant is currently being developed under the codename ‘Shark’, and that based on the placement of Sony images within them there will be a collaborative approach between them. Earlier this year, the two companies entered into an agreement in which Sony Pictures would release their films first to Netflix, after theatrical runs. It would not be unbelievable that the companies might consider a gaming-centered partnership as well.
Sony has also been vocal about moving its IPs beyond their own consoles. It was recently rumored that multiple ports of PlayStation games coming to PC, with Uncharted 4 being confirmed to be making the jump. Beyond that, The Last of Us has a show coming to HBO soon, an Uncharted movie which has finished production, and a Ghost of Tsushima movie has been greenlit.
We will have to wait and see where this goes and if indeed there is a partnership brewing.
