Sony had confirmed on February 13th that PlayStation would be present at PAX East, today, they have announced that attending wouldn’t be the best decision, the concern for the Coronavirus has unfortunately twisted Sony’s hand.
“Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.” Said Justin Massongill
In the event, Sony had planed showcase a list of playable games, from The Last of Us Part II and Final Fantasy VII Remake, to , Iron Man VR.

It has been reported that Coronavirus is getting scary for console manufacturers, the problem lies in the hardware manufacturers. China, the place where Coronavirus was found and has the most infected people, the impact of the virus is already affecting the manufacturing process of large companies like Foxconn. According to ComicBook Foxconn is already quarantining employees which will unavoidable affect companies around the world.
Nintendo of Japan President Shuntaro Furukawa talked about the virus in late January, he said that “prolonged problems will affect the product delivery plans”. Shortly after, Nintendo announced the delay pre-orders for the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
