Nintendo revealed today their upcoming Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch, called Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee!. A few weeks ago, leaks started coming out for the next Pokémon game that Nintendo promised would be coming this year, and here it is officially announced.
Check out the announcement trailer of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu!, showcasing some gameplay footage and the games’ features:
It was talked about some time ago, how the two games would feature cross-platform integration with Pokémon GO. As it turns out, those rumours were completely right, and the actual product looks awesome.
These games will release worldwide on November 16th, this year, and will take players back to the Kanto region for a new adventure that will only feature the original 151 Pokémon, and your starter will be either and Eevee or a Pikachu that will follow you around outside the Pokéball. The gameplay looks like it will be a cross between the main series and Pokémon GO, and it will feature direct connectivity with the AR game that allows players to trade Pokémon back and forth between games.
“About the game
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are based on Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, which first launched in Japan in 1998. These updated versions have been reimagined to make the most of the unique capabilities of the Nintendo Switch. The games also capture the fun of Pokémon GO and its intuitive Pokémon-catching mechanic.
Befriend Your Partner
At the start of your tale, you will encounter either Pikachu or Eevee, depending on which game version you choose. This Pikachu or Eevee will join you as your partner in your adventures, growing together with you on your journey.
Pikachu or Eevee will be with you wherever you go, either hanging on your shoulder or riding on your head. Don’t let their adorable expressions fool you into thinking that cuteness is all they offer, though. Your partner will be a dependable ally in battle, too.
In addition to determining your first partner Pokémon, there will be some differences in the species of Pokémon that you encounter and the rate at which you encounter them based on whether you choose Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!”
Nintendo also announced what fans have been waiting years for: a full-core and proper Pokémon RPG that is coming to the switch next year.
