has had an online game dedicated to their trading cards for a while now, but for some reason, it had never brought the popular and long-running TCG to smartphones before. Well, Pokemon TGC Live will end all that by allowing players to trade and battle their cards all while on the go with the convenience of their smartphones. The game will also be available on Mac and PC for players that prefer playing the traditional way, or if you prefer a bigger screen when playing at home
The game was announced by The Pokemon Company through an official post on their website, referring to it as a new and refined experience that will be perfect for players both new to the trading card game, as well as seasoned vets that are familiar with it.
Of course, seasoned vets might already be familiar with the existing Pokemon TCG Online that was the go-to game for Pokemon TGC till now. With the news of this new version has also come the news that they will be discontinuing Pokemon TGC Online in the lead-up to Live going live.
There is an official FAQ that helps outline what parts of the Pokemon TGC Online will transfer over to Live, and also what will not. In short, all cards from Sword & Shield will transfer over, with select expansions from Sun & Moon also transferring over, both will be playable at launch. Several other items will also transfer over, such as coins, card sleeves, and deck boxes.
The game will receive a soft launch on smartphones and tablets, starting in Canada later this year. There will also be an open beta for Mac and PC later this year as well. There is currently no date for the launch of Live or when Online will go offline but The Pokemon Company stated they will “have more details to share on exact timing soon.”
