The game’s being developed by Dishonored creators Arkane Studios, and they’re still clearly keeping a lot under wraps. But apparently you’ll gain the shape-shifting powers yourself, which seems interesting.
The game is non-linear, allowing you to travel wherever you want on the spacestation, so it seems as if previous comparisons to the classic System Shock are pretty accurate.
Prey is set on Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. The station has a distinctly System Shock vibe to it, with darkly-lit corridors and metallic surfaces.
Previous to the E3 reveal, leaked documents provided us insights into the possible settings Prey could use. While most of them don’t seem to fit the world depicted in the E3 reveal trailer, it seems that the ideas of a sleek future and a mechanical world have been combined, with the player being in a more idylic-looking setting before waking up from the ‘Groundhog Day’ like time loop and finding themselves in a more sinister, industrial looking station.
Check out the Trailer:

In Prey, you are the first human enhanced with alien powers aboard a desolate space station under assault. Improvise and innovate in order to survive as you search for answers. Prey is a bold new story set in a dangerous universe.”
