Primal Newscast #28 – Fallout 1st Fail, Diablo 4 Leaks & More!

Welcome to the Primal Newscast where Gaming Instincts goes over the hottest and most interesting news of the week that took place in the gaming industry.

Diablo IV – Release Leaked Before Blizzcon

Earlier this week there have been some leaks regarding a possibility of Overwatch 2 being announced at Blizzcon. Which we feel could be a tad premature given Blizzard just released the original Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch. This isn’t the only leak we have floating around though as an advertisement has leaked a second game that could potentially be announced at Blizzcon. Diablo IV was the game everyone was expecting to be shown at Blizzcon last year but it sounds like Blizzard will give us news on the fourth installment at this year’s Blizzcon. Based on a description for an Artbook in addition the description directly mentions artwork from Diablo I, II, III, and IV which basically tells us that Diablo 4 is definitely coming sometime in the future.

Activision is Working On 10 Other Titles

Activision

, for the most part, is known as the publisher of the Call of Duty and at one point the publisher of Destiny and Destiny 2. Since losing the Destiny IP some have to wonder how will Activision rebound and what will they produce outside of Call of Duty to make a profit.

According to Call of Duty insider The Gaming Revolution, Activision has started working on 10 different projects and only three of them are Call of Duty related. Now keep in mind this is all speculation, Activision hasn’t come out and said anything about this. The Gaming Revolution also said that one of the games are a third-party release specifically meant to fill the void that Destiny left by going independent.

Google Stadia Founder’s Edition Sells Out Worldwide

Google Stadia

is getting set to release on November 19th and it’ll be our first taste of Google’s new platform. With the game Google’s been talking up to this point, we’re just a few weeks away from seeing if Google can actually back it up. Google announced the release date last week and since then the Founder’s Edition of Google Stadia has sold out completely according to their Facebook page.

If I’m being honest, I’m not entirely sure how Stadia has sold out when we’re essentially getting a controller, a chromecast Ultra that can be picked up anywhere and a Digital subscription. My only guess is maybe Google is trying to keep the weight on the servers lite to start.

Suda51 & Swery65 to Collaborate On Horror Game

This week we got a strange piece of news from Suda51 & Swery 65 that they would officially be announcing. Suda51 of course is known for the cult classic No More Heroes, and Swery 65 known for the other cult classic Deadly Premonition. Both games announced sequels to their respective games for 2020. What we didn’t see coming is that the duo are combining forces to create their own horror game. However, in perfect form, it couldn’t be in a more unorthodox way.

Suda51 and Swery 65 were making a food-themed, PlayStation VR game. That game, however, was canceled and the two hopped on an IGN Japan stream this week to announce the news of their new horror game.

The name seems to be up in the air with the duo coming up with Hotel Barcelona as the title, but they eventually came to the conclusion that “Barcelona” could be replaced with South Africa, Tokyo, and other countries. The game should be set to an indie budget and it actually sounds like Devolver Digital (responsible for Hotline Miami and other great titles) would be publishing the game. The details of the game clearly aren’t set in stone and the planning process is continuing for this game, but these two coming together is a collaboration we need.

THQ Nordic Expanding To Japan

THQ Nordic Japan KK has officially been incorporated. Vienna-based Austrian publisher THQ Nordic GmbH has established THQ Nordic Japan KK, its second international distribution arm after 2012 the creation of THQ Nordic Inc. in the United States. The newly formed entity is tasked with distribution, public relations, and marketing of Handy Games and THQ Nordic’s slate of games in the Japanese market. The Japanese team consists of key people that delivered more than 200 titles in 15 years to the Japanese market, ranging from feature phones to consoles: Yuji Kato, Managing Director and former programmer with 20 years of game industry experience, Junko Kato, manager and former programmer/editor, and Project Manager Hiroshi Ogawa, also a former programmer as well as network and exhibitions manager.

The Last Of Us Part II Release Date Delayed

A blog post on the official PlayStation website revealed the release date for The Last of Us Part II has changed to May of 2020.In September, the latest trailer for The Last of Us Part II was featured in the State of Play presentation concerning upcoming PlayStation games, where the official release date was set for February 21, 2020. Today, October 24 2019, director Neil Druckman announced that date has changed, with production pushed back by three months.Druckman goes on to explain that the development team realized they didn’t have as much time as they would like to bring the game up to what they considered Naughty Dog quality. Rather than compromise parts of the game, the team opted to delay The Last of Us Part II‘s release date, allowing them to give players the game experience they deserve.

Ubisoft Teases Two New AAA Games For 2020

Ubisoft’s stock has been on a slow decline for the last month and there’s no way this conference call helped things. On top of all this news the company attempted to soften the blow by letting investors know that they’re working on two AAA games from their “biggest franchises”. This is what Yves Guillemot the Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft had to say about these releases.

“The games we’re coming next year with — the two games we had plus the three games we’re taking from Q4 to the rest of the year — will be of very high quality, well polished, with also very good identity.

We think they will be really well-armed to be strong sellers during the year.”

Fallout 76 Fallout 1st Fails Epically

At E3 this year Bethesda made such a big deal about the announcement of adding NPCs to Fallout 76. If I remember correctly this was paired with the news that Fallout 76 would be adding a Battle Royale mode. Now just this week alone Bethesda has dropped a lot of news on us about the game. First things first, The Wastelanders DLC has been pushed back to 2020, keep in mind this was the DLC meant to put NPCs into the game. Fair enough, make sure the DLC is working 100%. The very next day Bethesda and Fallout 76 announced the addition of Fallout 1st. Fallout 1st is a subscription service meant to add features, like a save point, unlimited storage, private words and more. The service charged $12.99 for a month and $99.99 for a year.

It launched broken. The private worlds aren’t private, the unlimited storage container will literally eat your items with no way to get them and numerous other bugs. Bethesda really needs to get their heads in the game if they want to win back fans now.
