A Reddit user claiming to work at Ubisoft has leaked some details of a game currently on development called Prince of Persia: Dark Babylon. The game will be announced at the PlayStation meeting in February, and will release for 2021 as a cross-gen game. This might suggest that the title will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X.
Prince of Persia: Dark Babylon’s story takes place after The Two Thrones in an alternate, “almost dystopic” version of Babylon. According to the leak, players would be able to roam through the apocalyptic city.
The Reddit user also talks about the gameplay, he claims that similarly to previous Prince of Persia games, Ubisoft is creating something that appeals to older titles but feels somewhat different.
Suggesting that Prince of Persia: Dark Babylon is inspired by the newest God of War, players will take the role of an older Prince, and customization of the Prince’s armor and abilities are also expected. Players will be facing an evil version of the Prince that appears from a different timeline.
The leak ends by stating that no Splinter Cell game is being planned at the moment, the allegedly Ubisoft worker deleted his Reddit account, so skepticism is advised.
Players have waited a long time for a next installment, the previous installment, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, and released back in 2005 for Xbox, PS2 and PC, with a later release on PSP and Wii. In a few months the game sold over 1.5 million copies, and was praised by the critic, getting almost perfect scores on websites like GameRankings, Metacritic, IGN.
For the time being, Ubisoft has still not discussed about a new Prince of Persia game for next-gen systems, but stay tuned at Gaming Instincts via Twitter, YouTube and Facebook for more updates on Prince of Persia: Dark Babylon.
