Square Enix’s Project Athia is PS5 Exclusive For Two Years

Project Athia

, the upcoming PS5 and PC game from Square Enix and Luminous Productions will be exclusive on PlayStation for two years.

The game was revealed during PlayStation’s Future of Gaming event, where the publisher confirmed that it would be a timed-exclusive for the new console. However, the two-year exclusivity is a surprise and it might be an answer to Xbox’s Game Pass

Not much is known about the upcoming game, the teaser trailer showcases beautiful sprawling landscapes, extremely detailed environments, and a suspenseful soundtrack.

The protagonist seems to have elemental abilities like the power to control vines, and she does not seem to take fall damage either. The trailer also showed off a couple of possible enemies, such as a large wolf-like creature, a gigantic worm, and a dragon.

Project Athia is the culmination of our philosophy here at Luminous Productions to create completely new and fresh gaming experiences that fuse together the latest technologies with art. With PS5, our vision truly comes to life, and with Project Athia players can look forward to being transported to a vast and detailed world filled with beauty and dismay.”

Project Athia will take you on a thrilling other-worldly adventure – it is going to be action-packed, and at times twisted, tempestuous, and forbidding. It is a journey that we want to feel as much yours as it is our protagonists.”

Luminous Productions

is a subsidiary of Square Enix, formed in 2018 to work on Final Fantasy, the studio aims to create new AAA video games for a global audience using the Luminous Engine.

It has yet to be revealed when the game will come to consoles, but since Project Athia is still a working title, it will likely be released next year at the earliest.
