The Primal Podcast is a weekly fun and analytical podcast that will focus on big weekly news, interesting articles, industry drama, predictions and all things video games.
Welcome to our #3 episode of The Primal Podcast. In this episode, we discuss the success of God of War and how giving your first party studio complete freedom in creativity can lead to miracles. Rare has also put out an update on Sea of Thieve’s future content, so we decided to talk a little bit about that as well. Phil Spencer also commented on Twitter saying that the next step for Team Xbox is to build a great diverse first party line and that it will take time achieve that similar to how it took time to get backward compatibility going and most powerful hardware the Xbox One X. Microsoft’s recent success with Backwards Compatibility is quite remarkable and there are few things we wanted to say about it, but as usual, a console is nothing without its killer app exclusive first party games.
More leaks are still happening in regards to PlayStation 5’s specs so we take a look at another possible legit (or fake) leak that leads us closer to the final specs of the PlayStation 5 despite Sony saying that PlayStation 5 is still a ways off. We’ve also learned that the PlayStation 5 is codenamed internally at Sony as Epsilon similar to how to PlayStation 4 was codenamed as Orbis and Xbox One being Durango assuming that these new rumors are true and that the exclusive 1st-party games that are developed by Sony Worldwide Studios (Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica etc…) are coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5 if they started production after April 1st, 2018. Which means that anything before April 1st, 2018 is either a cross-gen title or not coming to PlayStation 5 at all from Sony Worldwide Studios. Please note that we’re not taking any of these rumors/leaks at face value or any kind of actual factual evidence. This is all purely for discussion and something to speculate on.
