Kareem Choudhry joined Inside Xbox to talk about the new Project xCloud
Public preview for the new service starts in October and players can sign up for it today here.
It’s starting in the United States, United Kingdom and Korea and they will accept sign ups and hopefully you’ll get to experience it then. Halo Guardians, Gears 5, Sea of Thieves and Killer Instinct will be playable for the preview. It will indeed be the player’s progression and everything as its just being transferred to the devices on cloud.
Players will need an Xbox One controller with a bluetooth connection with also a wifi connection as well. Players will also be able to stream from their home console to their other devices including mobile.
It would seem that streaming games to mobile is the next step in gaming and Microsoft would like to start with that using Project xCloud. We have heard many things about it like how streaming from your console is very seamless and works well within your home and supposedly outside.
For now I think that a preview for the device would have to be shown off since Google Stadia already shown off its potential a while ago with all of the input lag that players might expect. Hopefully Project xCloud will be something way better than the Google Stadia and will show off how seamless the gameplay could be as being streamed from your own console.
Additionally, I believe that Google Stadia will need to step up their game if they want to survive against the promising Project xCloud and their exclusive collection of games. Hopefully both of these streaming services will be fully functional and fully playable when they get released.
