It would seem that Double Fine Productions is joining Microsoft and because of this they have a sequel for an old game announced that fans have been waiting for in the longest time, Psychonauts 2.
That’s right, the sequel to the classic hit made in 2005 is back and continues the story of everybody’s favorite psychic troublemaker, Raz as he became an official Psychonaut and is on a mission to stop this new threat. Like in the previous game, Raz will travel through the minds of people as he explores the psyche of everyone to figure out how to deal with the situation at hand.
For the most part the game looks faithful to the previous game as you’ll use several old and new abilities to solve puzzles, platform through rows of teeth and impress his new girlfriend.
The sequel was initially announced at the 2015 Games Awards as it was crowdfunding campaign. The game eventually reached its $3 million goal and people are still able to pre order through there. As a bonus Double Fine still plans to honor all crowdfunding commitments as many people have already pre-ordered the game. So they may have to transfer all of the pre-orders that way, or somehow transfer the pre-orders around.
While it’s unknown how Double Fine will be making games from now on and now that they’re partnered with Microsoft, we can be assured that the company will be making more games in the years to come without any restrictions.
With a new Psychonauts game on the way fans of the previous series and even the VR game, in the Rhombus of Ruin which came out in 2017. Fans will be able to once again play as their favorite little Psychic sometime in 2019 on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
