After much anticipation that the long-awaited sequel, Psychonauts 2, would be releasing later this year, it seems that the game won’t be ready for a 2019 release after all. Double Fine Productions and now publisher Microsoft have announced a delay for the game set for sometime in 2020.
The sequel to Psychonauts, which was originally backed through a crowdfunding campaign, has seen its fair share of push backs. The game was initially planned for a 2018 release which then lead to a delay for 2019.
The delay may be in response to Starbreeze Studios sudden financial problems leading to the publisher to drop Psychonauts 2. Microsoft then stepped in and acquired Double Fine Productions along with the upcoming sequel. However, the game is still expected to release on the PS4 along with the Xbox One and PC.
Perhaps Microsoft took a look at where the game was and decided it was best for the fans if they took some more time to polish the final product.
