The man behind Dead Space series at Visceral Games has now joined a new team to build up a new studio for developing a AAA story-driven title. Glen Schofield is now part of PUBG Corp at their new studio.
PUBG Corporation is going to take a big step forward in video game industry to reaffirm its footsteps and reassure fans that PUBG series will never die. To be honest, we used to see the progress of video games in Battle Royale in a certain way. First they were some narrative-driven games, then they got some multiplayer modes and finally they hosted Battle Royale as the most trending genre of these days, but PUBG is going to do it vice versa.
The game was born as a Battle Royale title and grew enough to get tons of revenue every month. Now, things are going to get bigger for PUBG, as the series will be getting a story-driven entry set in the PUBG universe. The new studio for PUBG Corp., Striking Distance, will be developing this new title and it’s led by Glen Schofield.
Schofield has had an honorable history of game developing in Visceral Games and Sledgehammer Games, working on Dead Space and Call of Duty franchises. Now, he is about to form up a new studio for PUBG Corp and cultivate a AAA game for the company that will imply a completely different experience from what we’ve already seen from PUBG.
CEO of PUBG Corp. C.H. Kim said:
As a company, we have focused on developing and making content available for global audiences through close collaboration with international teams located across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. That vision is taken to the next level as our development and service portfolio expands and diversifies with Glen Schofield and Striking Distance. We are thrilled to welcome Glen to the company. His unique blend of proven leadership and boundless creativity will help us create great synergy.
On the other hand, CEO of the newly founded Striking Distance Glen Schofield stated:
Throughout my career, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to make some remarkable games that tell incredible stories, and each of them has meant something special to me. But now, those learnings will help me build a AAA team that can explore new designs and concepts at Striking Distance.
As a creative, the freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities, which I view as beyond the battle royale genre. Today represents a special moment for me and I’m so thankful to be taking this journey with the team at PUBG Corporation.
It’s expected to see more of the upcoming game for Striking Distance once the studio hired it’s crucial members.
