Quantic Dream Announces A Publishing Division

Quantic Dream is celebrating its 23rd birthday, today David Cage – CEO, Director and Writer and Guillaume de Fondaumière – Co-CEO, Head of Publishing announced that Quantic Dream will become a full-time publisher. “for the first time in 23 years of working with prestigious publishers, we are now in a position to self-publish.”

The CEO explains that the new challenge will allow them to make decisions in total independence, they would also be able to address the technological and strategic opportunities for the next-generation consoles. Quantic Dream is also ready for providing investment and development support for other studios “so that they can fully express their talents”.

We want to support creators of original projects and help them, in turn, to achieve their vision and offer quality, ground-breaking experiences. This is more than an evolution — it is a transformation. We are doing this to preserve our freedom and our independence, to continue working on innovative and even more ambitious projects, to address greater challenges, and to create the unexpected. Quantic Dream will never be just another studio.

We want to face new horizons, to keep our passion alive, and keep trusting in the idea of making games that are different.

Quantic Dream is evolving, but the studio remains true to its roots. We continue to believe that interactivity can be a means of artistic expression, that passion and sincerity are our best allies in reaching gamers, and that the values of humanism, solidarity, and inclusiveness that we have championed in our games for 23 years are more necessary now than ever before.

The studio is founded by David Cage, he has a background as a music composer, in 1994 he started producing The Nomad Soul, he received the support from Eidos Interactive, his project was founded and produced. David Bowie collaborated by acting as a two characters and created ten original songs for the game. The Nomad Sould allowed Cage to found Quantic Dream on 1997.

The new studio started the production of a new project, this time it was Atari, Inc. who backed the project, and Fahrenheit became a reality, the game introduced elements that would become significantly requirements for the storytelling in the gaming industry. in 2005 Quantic Dream revealed The Casting, a technology demonstration of what could be accomplished on PlayStation 3. This encouraged Sony to make a partership with Quantic Dream and Heavy Rain came to be, the game launched in 2010 and became a total sucess for both Sony and Quantic Dream.

Chinese Internet conglomerate NetEase secured a minority investment into Quantic Dream in January 2019 for an undisclosed amount. With this, Quantic Dream’s  Guillaume de Fondaumière stated that they would no longer be limited to PlayStation-exclusive titles.
