It was announced today by Ben “Twisted4000” Carswell, that its Sci-fi Fighter game Quasara is now on Patreon and is being developed by himself, with some help for voices and a couple of music tracks. It’s been almost 3 years of development and the completion of the game is close, so he wants to ask for your support and to spread the word would be fantastic.
Check out the Patreon trailer of Quasara, giving deatils about the games’ progress and current features:
“Hello, there! My name is Ben Carswell and I’m a developer making a PC/Mac game, a sci-fi-themed fighter. It consists of a variety of different characters that have their own unique play-styles and sets of special abilities. Rather than combos being a collection of certain keys being pressed in a particular amount of time, combos rely on single moves and your creativity as well as movement-prediction. The game has its own set of original audio tracks and a colorful cast of voices, and the colorful stages and palettes of the characters really creates a large combination of gameplay options.
An online multiplayer option is being developed for it, so you can battle your friends from across the world as well as in the same room!
The main idea behind this game is that there’s no invincibility when your opponent grabs onto the stage’s ledge or when they get up off the ground; when you attack and hit your opponent, you ATTACK AND HIT YOUR OPPONENT. When you lock them into some awesome combo you came up with, the fighter on the business end of your impeccable skills must come up with a way to get out of it. There’s no cheap, lame shortcuts.
Whenever you land an attack, your energy meter charges up. Currently, each character has a special ability as well as a super attack. Both abilities have different costs of energy, and depending on how far your energy meter went up, you can choose to spend it on multiple smaller abilities, or use it all to blast away your opponent with your super.
Each character plays differently; some are fast, light, and hard to hit, others are big and tanky. Some snipe from afar, others get up close and personal. Depending on what your play-style is, each character actually has tons of power behind them and are able to take on any other character; but it all actually depends on the player’s skill–not just the character they’re playing as.
All the support for this game will be going directly to it to speed up its production; the art, the audio, the animation, the continued programming, getting it Greenlit on Steam, and potentially paying everyone else involved with it (additional voice work, music production, etc.). It currently has an online multiplayer mode where you can fight against another player over your LAN as well as the internet, and though it so far works, the game requires a lot more work for it to be optimal.
I have my Patreon page set “per creation”, and it’s all going to this. Even if it doesn’t make the goal, every dollar helps so much. This project means a lot to me, and I feel like literally TONS of people will have a lot of fun with it. Thank you so much for your time.
Here are some links to my website as well as social media sites, I make cartoons and drawings in my spare time so there’s some info on those as well.
