Rainbow Six Quarantine Will Not Be Called Parasite

Due to obvious reasons, Ubisoft decided to change the name of the upcoming Rainbow Six Quarantine, the project has been renamed Parasite, however, the new name is just a placeholder and it’s not the official new name.

“While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use,” a statement from Ubisoft, given to PCGamesN. “Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public. We can confirm this is  a glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon.”

The game was first revealed at E3 2019, the upcoming game is a full, standalone game based on Rainbow Six Siege‘s Outbreak event. According to the official description, the game features a three-player, co-op multiplayer, the video game takes players in a “face off against a totally new breed of a mutated alien parasite. Infecting human hosts and their surroundings, this new enemy is more lethal and challenging than ever before.”

Rainbow Six Quarantine was delayed “In order to enable the game to reach its full potential”. The publisher explained more in a blog post.

We recently passed a major production gate, where we presented an intense core-experience built upon unique coop tactical gameplay. We will now be focusing on overall polish and reaching the level of quality this game deserves.

Just like many of you, we’ve spent a lot of the past few months working in exceptional conditions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’re thankful to have this extra time. We are committed to bringing players a high-quality experience, and most importantly, providing the space and time to keep the development team healthy at the same time.

Rainbow Six Quarantine

is expected to be released later this year, the game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Confirmation of a next-gen release has not been made official, but we can assume that the game will also be available with next-gen features post-launch.
