Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
has received a new gameplay trailer that officially introduces Rivet, the female lombax that will play a big role in the upcoming game.
Rivet is a resistance fighter from another dimension, thanks to the PS5’s SSD players will be able to control both Ratchet and Rivet in this new dimension, which is ruled by Emperor Nefarious. In the gameplay trailer, we see some Ratchet & Clank’s iconic locations such as Torren IV and Sargasso, which received the alternate-dimension makeover.

The song we chose for the trailer has special meaning beyond just being a great, exciting track. It is from the (Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame nominated) band DEVO, a personal favorite of mine, but, some would say more importantly, the band that the incomparable Mark Mothersbaugh co-founded. I’m excited to announce that Mark is the Composer of the Rift Apart soundtrack! Beyond his work in DEVO, you’ve likely heard his compositions across the years whether it was in the original three Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter games, as well as animated series like Rugrats, and the blockbuster film: Thor Ragnarok. We are so thrilled to be collaborating with Mark and cannot wait for you to hear the incredible score he’s come up with.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
is also getting a State of Play later this week, the event will start on Thursday, April 29 at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 10 pm BST on both Twitch and YouTube. The game’s Creative Director, Marcus Smith affirmed in a blog post that the special event will unveil more gameplay and story details.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a brand-new full-length adventure. When the evil Dr. Nefarious uses a device that can access alternate dimensions to find a galaxy where he always wins, Ratchet and Clank are separated. As they try to reunite, they will meet Rivet, the new Lombax resistance fighter, explore new and familiar locales, and wield a whole new arsenal of out-of-this-world weapons.
