With Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart only a week away, more information has come out concerning how you can play the game. Today we have learned about a day 1 patch that should help players on the newly released PlayStation 5 get a decent combination of graphics and framerate.
Similar to other games from Insomniac Games it has been announced that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will feature a day 1 patch for PS5 giving access to a Performance RT mode in the game. This will allow you to play the game at 60 frames per second while having ray tracing active.
Ray Tracing, for gamers out of the know, is a rendering technique using lighting that allows for a higher degree of visual realism. Below is the official tweet, which shows the mode in all its splendor:
Since most of the levels within the game will feature vibrant lighting and colors the ray tracing feature will be even more important than usual, to help the world pop. This is in stark contrast to other companies that choose to couple ray tracing solely with their 4K graphics option.
Insomniac Games has added this option to their games before. Both Spider-Man: Myles Morales and Spider-Man: Remastered would eventually see this feature patched into the game. In the case of Ratchet & Clank, however, despite being a patch, players will not have to wait for the feature.
Besides just the options for what mode to play the game in the game will feature plenty of accessibility options. The game will feature the ability to adjust Fire Modes, Aim Mode and Auto Aim, various contrast options, adjusting motion blur and screen shake, and much more.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will release for the PlayStation 5 on June 11th. It will only require 33GB to install, though that is before the patch.
