With the future of gaming seemingly headed towards the clouds in game streaming services, Apple has revealed the official release date for their endeavor into the subscription model service. Apple Arcade was announced earlier this year, and it seems that during the iPhone event earlier this week – users will be able to get their hands on the streaming service as early as next week.
Along with the release date announcement also came a few new exclusive titles revealed for the service. From veteran publishers like Konami, Capcom and Annapurna Interactive all creating new content for the Apple game streaming service, the modest price tag of only $4.99 per month will also play a big part in whether or not Apple Arcade becomes successful.
Capcom unveiled their deep-sea adventure-esque title, Shinsekai: Into the Depths, while Konami revealed yet another new Frogger title, Frogger in Toy Town. Also, a newer studio behind hit titles, such as What Remains of Edith Finch and the recently released Outer Wilds, Annapurna Interactive debuted their rhythm based game, Sayonara Wild Hearts. And while Annapurna’s new title won’t necessarily be exclusive to Apple Arcade, both Frogger in toy Town and Shinsekai: Into the Depths are only landing on the streaming service.
It should also be noted that these three games mentioned will be apart of the 100+ game library launching alongside the release of Apple’s streaming service. And with the extremely low price of the service, Apple’s Family Sharing feature will allow the whole family to enjoy the streaming service for that one low cost alone. It’s an incredible deal, one that seems almost too good to be true.
Apple Arcade is set to release next week on September 19, 2019 along with a one month free trial for those unsure of the service itself. There will also be a tvOS13 update which will allow both Xbox One S and the DualShock 4 controllers to be used on the Apple TV devices. Apple Arcade will be able to be utilized on all Apple smart devices, such as iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Apple computers.
