Publisher Coatsink and developer Sad Cat Studios have announced that the upcoming action platformer REPLACED has been delayed again from its previously planned 2024 release window to 2025 to “ensure we meet the high standards.” It will launch for Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. REPLACED is a “2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer where you play as R.E.A.C.H.—an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body against its own will.”
The full message regarding the delay:
Hey everyone.
We’ll keep it short: REPLACED will now be released in 2025. Our initial release date was optimistic, and we apologize for that. Developing REPLACED is quite a unique challenge, and we’re proud to be creating something that special.
We need more time to ensure we meet the high standards we’ve set for ourselves and to meet the expectations of our fans. Feel free to join our Discord we post lots of devlogs there to share the progress and are open for a chat.
REPLACED was featured at Summer Game Fest earlier this summer, and now it will also finally be available at Gamescom for everybody to play! Come say “hi”!
For those not attending we’ve prepared something special for later this week.
Now back to work. We want you to love REPLACED when it launches, so we have to go the extra mile here!
The game’s details:
REPLACED is a 2.5D sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer where you play as R.E.A.C.H.—an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body against its own will.
REPLACED combines cinematic platformer, pixel art, and free-flow action combat with a deep engaging dystopian story set in an alternative 1980’s.
Explore and uncover the mysteries in and around Phoenix-City from the perspective of R.E.A.C.H. who is learning how to be human in a society that has taken a turn for the worst.
Everything is ruled by corruption and greed. The ones in power see humans and their organs as nothing more than just currency.
