Capcom has been batting 100 in my eyes the last few years, revamping and providing sequels or remasters to some of their best games. When you step back and look at games like the MegaMan Legacy Collection series, Resident Evil 2 Remake, the Devil May Cry series, MegaMan 11 and countless other games have put Capcom back in an area of prominence where I’m excited to hear all their announcements. This generation of hardware has produced some absolutely terrifying Resident Evil games both in Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It looks like Capcom is dropping one more Resident Evil game this year, unfortunately, it gets worse from there.
As far as Resident Evil goes, both Remake and 7 garnered acclaim from media outlets and players alike, so to hear more coming should be exciting. Capcom announced that they will be releasing a prequel to Resident Evil 7 before the year is up. The game titled Resident Evil: Walkthrough The Fear will be out next Saturday on October 26th. Unfortunately, for now though the game is exclusive to people who go to a Capcom VR-X booth in Tokyo. According to the developer, the game should run for about 40 minutes and be playable with three other players.
While there haven’t been any announcements for the VR experience stateside, I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up getting it on VR systems late this year or early next year. Earlier this year Capcom announced Project: Resistance and that will be the game fans are most anticipating. Though some are wondering if this prequel to Resident Evil 7 means we could see more games from that timeline.
