Resident Evil Showcase Scheduled for April 15

Capcom will be hosting a new Resident Evil showcase next Thursday, April 15. The show will feature a new trailer for Resident Evil Village as well as “a few other surprises”.

Check the teaser trailer down below:

As stated in the trailer, the Resident Evil showcase will air at 6 p.m. EDT/3 p.m. PDT on Capcom’s YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook channels. Brittney Brombacher of What’s Good Games is the host for the event. Resident Evil Village producer Tsuyoshi Kanda and director Morimasa Sato will also appear in the live stream revealing more information about the game.

It’s expected that Capcom reveals more information about Resident Evil Re:Verse, the new multiplayer game to be bundled with Resident Evil Village. Is also worth mentioning that Capcom is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise, fans are expecting a potential announcement of Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake, or Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is reportedly the next big project for the franchise, according to insiders, the game was initially being produced at M-Two, the studio behind the Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Apparently, M-Two’s idea was to “change the issues newcomers or modern players have with the game means you have to change elements the original game was designed around, primarily how it controls.”

The new restoration project had the blessing of the original Game Director Shinji Mikami, but the new reimagination was too controversial for Capcom who reportedly delayed the game and handled the development of the project to Capcom Division 1.

Insiders told Video Games Chronicles that the project was previously scheduled to arrive in 2022, but because of this change in direction, the project is expected to be finished by 2023.

It’s believed that the disagreements that led to M-Two’s reduced role involved the studio’s desire to stick faithfully to the template of the original Resident Evil 4, partly influenced by backlash to Resident Evil 3’s remake, which did not include significant portions of the original PlayStation game, much to fans’ disappointment.
