Resident Evil Village Coming on May 7, 2021

During the recent Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom revealed that Resident Evil Village will be available worldwide May 7, 2021, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, old-gen consoles, and Steam.

Resident Evil Village will feature a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5, and Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

As part of the 25th year celebration of the franchise Resident Evil Re:Verse will be included with Resident Evil Village. Re:Verse is an online multiplayer game coming for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can access the game through backward compatibility.

Resident Evil Re:Verse features comic-style visuals and sets a popular cast of Resident Evil characters against each other in deathmatch battles at iconic locations.

Players can choose from a fan-favorite roster, each with their own unique skillsets to master. When players are defeated in combat, their character respawns by mutating into a bioweapon to enact revenge on their foes.

In the first extended gameplay footage, the development team revealed new gameplay details like blocking, crafting recipes, and weapon customization via a merchant dubbed “The Duke”.

Players will be able to collect materials around the game, those materials will be key to crafting needed consumables for surviving the terrors of the village. The trailer also showcased a revised inventory system based on space management of previous Resident Evil games.

Resident Evil Village is now available for pre-order, PlayStation 5 owners can now download the exclusive Maiden demo, which does not feature combat or weapons, but serves as a sneak peek of the mysterious, beautiful Castle Dimitrescu.

In the Maiden demo, players won’t be playing as Ethan, but as a maiden that relies on their wits to escape the cursed village. Capcom confirmed that a new demo will be coming this spring for consoles and PC.

Pre-orders for Resident Evil Village start today, with options for digital and physical Standard and Deluxe Editions and a physical Collector’s Edition.

The Deluxe Edition includes the base game and a digital “Trauma Pack,” which consists of additional in-game content including a Samurai Edge weapon, Resident Evil 7 biohazard inspired found footage screen filter and tape recorder save point options, immediate access to an especially challenging difficulty setting, and more.

The physical Collector’s Edition includes the digital Deluxe Edition content plus a striking statue of franchise veteran Chris Redfield, a SteelBook case, art book, and a cloth map of the village with key art printed on the reverse side.
