Resident Evil Village Sales Surpasses 10 Million Units Worldwide

Capcom recently announced that Resident Evil Village sales have surpassed 10 million units worldwide as of March 31. Resident Evil Village first launched on May 7, 2021 and is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Resident Evil Village follows “Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again.”The game’s details via Capcom:

Experience survival horror like never before in the eighth major installment in the storied Resident Evil franchise – Resident Evil Village.

Set a few years after the horrifying events in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan Winters and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again.

First-Person Action – Players will assume the role of Ethan Winters and experience every up-close battle and terrifying pursuit through a first-person perspective.
Familiar Faces and New Foes – Chris Redfield has typically been a hero in the Resident Evil series, but his appearance in Resident Evil Village seemingly shrouds him in sinister motives. A host of new adversaries inhabiting the village will relentlessly hunt Ethan and hinder his every move as he attempts to make sense of the new nightmare he finds himself in.

Resident Evil Village is the sequel to the lauded Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which was launched in 2017, and features a variety of horror experiences, a greater degree of action, and even more expansive, highly-engaging gameplay.

Following its 2021 release, the title garnered critical acclaim across the world after taking honors at the Golden Joystick Awards 2021 and Japan Game Awards: 2022 for its high degree of polish and emotionally resonant story that won over a broad range of game players worldwide. In addition, both the release of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes the main game and additional story content, and expanded supported for devices such as iPhone 15 Pro has led to increased unit sales. Even now, three years after its release, the title continues to gain new users, selling approximately two million units each year. This has resulted in it achieving more than 10 million units in sales, making it the fastest title in the series to reach this milestone.

Capcom is firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.
