Respawn Bans Over 700K Cheaters On Apex Legends On PC

The online multiplayer realm has always been tainted with cheaters finding their way into games predominantly ruining the experience for those who wish to play the game honestly. While many studios vow to end these tactics by any means necessary, it seem Respawn is taking things refreshingly serious with their break-out battle royale title, Apex Legends.

It’s been reported on the game’s Reddit page that Respawn Entertainment has been cracking down on cheaters since the game’s debut this passed February with around 770K cheaters banned on the PC version of the game alone.

“While we can’t share details on what we’re doing so as to not give a head’s up to the cheat makers, what we can say is that we’re attacking this from every angle, from improvements to detecting cheaters, bolstering resources and tools, to improving processes and other sneaky things to combat sellers and cheaters.” – Respawn Entertainment

While the industry seems to be fighting a never-ending battle against illegitimate players, there are studios, such as Respawn, that are dedicated to turning the tables against those players. Along with cheat using players, around 4,000 of those banned players were also associated with selling various cheats, as well.

Out of the millions of players enjoying their time with Apex Legends, over 700K players might not seem like much in comparison, but it’s an awfully good start for a game that’s only been available for three months. And awfully disturbing number of cheaters playing the game.
