Experienced gamers and indie game fans definitely have known Lucas Pope for it’s investigative puzzle title, Papers Please, before they got to play Return of Obra Dinn. Pope is always known for infinite creativity that he puts behind every aspects of his projects, from distinct gameplay mechanics to unique graphical design, and his latest game proves both the former and the latter.
Return of Obra Dinn, winner of Best Art Direction at The Game Awards 2018 with sweeping two prizes in 2019 BAFTA Game Awards and other well-known festivals, will be always remembered as one of the great indie games for it’s awesome idea behind the graphics on the edge of 9th generation of consoles, where every developer tries to achieve most realistic thing ever. Unfortunately, Pope never released Papers Please for any other platform except PC and the same goes to Return of Obra Dinn, which Switch users are really eager to play on their own platform and Pope still has no plans for it as he said:
A lot of people are asking for it. Actually the first response when I released it for desktops was, ‘When is it coming to Switch?’ So the writing is on the wall on that I guess. I haven’t figured anything out yet solid for it yet though.
With the comment above on Switch version of the game, it seems Pope has really no clear vision for porting his game on other platforms, including Switch, at least in near future, and fans should still wait for more detailed statement by the developer to be published.
