‘Revitalized’ Quake To Appear At Quakecon

Rumors have been suggesting that there might be some kind of Quake Reboot in the pipeline this year, and of course, most suspected it would make a debut this year at Quakecon. According to the schedule for the upcoming Quakecon which was previously posted online, there does indeed seem to be a new Quake awaiting players.

As one might expect from an event that takes its name, the game in question appears quite a lot of the three days of panels and events.  Opening the first day is an event entitled ‘Celebrating 25 years of Quake‘ which features id Software and MachineGames. Now, obviously, MachineGames have been associated with another ID franchise in recent years, Wolfenstein. According to rumors involving the new Quake they are in some compacity helping the development.

While the schedule itself doesn’t outright state there is a Quake Reboot, additional explanations of the events on their website do suggest that this is the case. According to the explanation for the 25 years of Quake event:

Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of MachineGames about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them. The pair will also discuss the additional content MachineGames have contributed to this revitalized edition.

I mean starting by proclaiming that Quake is back should be the tip-off, but they also end the description by referring to a revitalized edition. According to Shpeshal Nick of Xboxera last month, this game will be Developed by ID Software with help from MachineGames. It will feature a female protagonist and will have both a single-player and multiplayer component.

Quakecon will occur between Agust 19 and August 21 so we can expect to hear more about the game then.
