Riot Games Reportedly Cancelled a Smash Bros Style Fighting Game

According to a recent report from ReaderGrev, Riot Games canceled plans for a Super Smash Bros style platform fighting game codenamed Pool Party. According to the report, the fighter would have been set in the League of Legends universe and a prototype was already in the works before it was eventually scrapped. Executives no longer believed the project would get a playerbase. The title was initially set to be a hardcore fighting game but later included casual party elements. The project also had over 70 developers working on it, many of who have been offered other roles in the company. Lastly, according to the report, “Pool Party bears no relation to the other fighting game under development at Riot Games, the 2v2 team-based fighter 2XKO. The developer is still working on the latter title, which is slated to release in 2025.”

Details on the publisher’s current game, Valorant:

VALORANT is a five-versus-five character-based tactical shooter.

We Are VALORANT

Your Agents

Creativity is your greatest weapon.

More than guns and bullets, you’ll choose an Agent armed with adaptive, swift, and lethal abilities that create opportunities to let your gunplay shine. No two Agents play alike, just as no two highlight reels will look the same.
